Surely God is Good

Surely God is Good

Pastor Victor Manuel Labrada - Psalms 73:1ff
Independent Sermons
Delivered on: 23 June 2019

Christians are often tempted to compare their lives to the lives of non-Christians and wonder, "why do they have it so good?" If God loves his people, why does he seem to reward the wicked? Asaph ponders the same in Psalm 73. These questions can sometimes lead to a perverted version of Christianity (which attempts to merge worldly treasures with spiritual blessings) or flat out resentment. But as Asaph learns when he enters the sanctuary to see God's holiness, wealth and health cannot spare someone from God's holy judgment, and neither can our own righteousness. Asaph, and we, need to be found in someone who is truly pure in heart, so that we can have refuge here and in eternity. (Ps 73:1ff)

Christ over Everything

Christ over Everything

Pastor Mike Hernandez - Colossians 1:15-23
Independent Sermons
Delivered on: 16 June 2019

We exercise the terrible tendency to search for salvation in creation. We compound that by placing unreal expectations on the church. This tells us that Christians are in desperate need of recovering the gospel. Christians need Christ over creation and Christ over the church. In other words, Christians need Christ over Everything. (Col 1:15-23)

False Advancement in the Midst of True Advancement

Series: The Gospel is Finished but not Finished

Pastor Aldo Leon - Acts 8:9-25
The Gospel is Finished but not Finished
Delivered on: 9 June 2019

Whenever the gospel advances there will always be false counters. What are they and what do they look like? Our passage will show us that counter movements always miss the point and redirect us to the less Christ-specific things. (Ac 8:9-25)
