Paul, piece by piece, shows us what it looks like to trust in the finished work of Christ as the central calling of the church. In this final section, he wraps up the conversation with how the cross of Christ qualifies the way we see our financial resources and how we see people. Paul shows us that a generous cross that provides us so richly with eternal benefits compels us to use our money in a generous manner regarding things related to the gospel and that the gospel's benefits also direct us to be mostly preoccupied with the people purchased by the gospel. (Php 4:15-23)

What Kind of Provider is God?

In light of Gospel truths, what kind of a provider is God? For many people see God's provision solely in terms of having certain things and having certain favorable dispositions. However, what our text shows us is that God is Someone who provides something much more profound. God is Someone who provides us with a contentment in who we are in Jesus as He removes and adds situational and circumstantial blessing. God is mostly about providing us a deeper experience of who we are and what we have in Jesus than providing us with things. (Php 4:10-14)
